Operation Night Club in Atlantic City

Atlantic City has been suffering to due to competition of other casino developments popping up in nearby states. As a result, the nightlife there has plummeted tremendously. In an effort to once again attract the young night crowd again, two investors are taking the plunge to save the night scene. The Metro International reported that the night life in this East Coast hot area would never be the same. But perhaps these two new investors know something about attracting the night life. They know that attracting a young night crowd brings the cash.

While the night clubs attract a crowd, it’s also important to lure them into the casino, as well. This weekend at Ceasar’s Casino, the $7 Million Dollar Dusk will kick off. Since June of last year, Ceasar’s profits have gone done 11%. The $7 Million Dollar Dusk is a casino tournament that hopes to be the turning point that will lure more people to the slots and to place more wagers at the casino tables.

“A good portion of Atlantic City’s business is lost forever to more convenient casinos of Pennsylvania, New York and Delaware,” Joe Weinert said, who works with an industry consulting group, Spectrum Gaming. “Nightclubs are prime examples of what Atlantic City needs to convince people within two or three hours to drive past their local gaming halls and come.”

However, Milton Leontiades, dean emeritus of Rutgers University-Camden’s School of Business, believes more is needed. “Nightclubs may get you some extra dollars, but that’s not the next level. You have to look beyond the next nightclub or beach bar that’s sort of a snap-on addition…”

Many believe that the Atlantic City casinos are the city’s last money making attractions, but just maybe the new upcoming nightlife will in fact be the key to Atlantic City’s success.
