Seneca Nations of Indians Announces Monticello Casino

The Catskills Mountains region in New York will undergo a major project as the Seneca Nations of Indians and a Michigan company have plans to develop the city’s first major land based casino. The plans have been in the works for nearly 18 months now and development is expected to take place in Monticello which is roughly 80 miles north of the Big Apple.
Nation President Barry E. Snyder has yet to approach the governor regarding the developments but has said this will be done shortly as they expect changes in policies to take place once Barack Obama has been sworn into administration this month. The new casino is said to bring in over $160 million in revenue to the state and local governments.
“The Nation views development of a Catskills casino with the state as yet another example of a ‘win-win’ economic development, which have generated more than 4,000 jobs and $300 million in payments to the state,” Snyder said.
