Atlantic City Pays Craps Player for Four Hours Straight

Atlantic City casinos have been getting hammered because of the economy, and they are desperately in need of some good press. Since the economy started to bottom out, it seems like nothing but bad luck has fallen on Atlantic City casinos. Finally, though, at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa there was recently some promising news to report. A woman walked into the Borgata Casino around 8:30 p.m. the other evening and jumped right on a craps table. She didn’t get up for four hours, continuously rolling the dice well into the night.

Patricia Demauro picked up the dice and didn’t put them down until four hours later when she finally passed the lucky dice on to another player. The Borgata claims the old record was three hours and six minutes, but Demauro has now broken that record, setting a new continuous Craps session record for the casino.

All the excitement drew a crowd around the woman, as more than 150 people joined in cheering her on. Demauro claims, “This was only my second time playing craps, so this was very exciting for me to be part of history.”

Atlantic City revenue has been steadily decreasing over the past year, creating panic among many casino owners. Not only is the economy part of the problem, but there is a lot of competition from neighboring states. These two factors combined have forced Atlantic City casinos to down size and find ways to prevent them from shutting their doors.

The Borgata was pleased that Demauro brought some positive attention to the city. Although the amount she won was not revealed, it was the magic of the excitement that kept people watching Demauro for hours.

One observer, Timothy Jenkins, said, “I was just wandering around and I saw a crowd of people around 10:30, so I started to watch, and it was amazing. I didn’t stop watching until she was done several hours later.”
